A Better Body with Winsor Pilates

Let’s face it. Many of us could benefit from an increase in our activity on a daily basis.  In fact, many of us are not satisfied with our particular fitness levels at this time and plan to implement some sort of exercise program to try to look and feel better.  Even if you have let yourself get out of shape, don’t feel guilty; it’s never to late to put an exercise regimen in place. One good exercise program used by many people today is the Winsor Pilates Method.

Winsor Pilates practitioners maintain better body image and walk with better posture and new confidence than people who use no exercise program. The regular practitioners of Winsor Pilates reap the benefits of the exercise with moves that tone, sculpt and firm their muscles very quickly, leading to a nice Pilates body.

Mari Winsor first introduced a series of tapes outlining the Winsor Pilates Method.  The first tape of the series introduced the seven basic Winsor Pilates moves, presented in a low-intensity, 24 minute version.  The purpose of all the exercises is to sculpt and reshape your body into the lean, fit person you have always longed to be.

In the first tape, Mari Winsor explains how to do the basic seven Winsor Pilates moves herself with tips and 3-D illustrations.  The seven basis moves in this video are the Pilates 100, the roll up, single leg circles, rolling like a ball, single leg stretches, double leg stretches, and spine stretch forwards.  Each one of these exercises have their own specific techniques that should be taught by a qualified Winsor Pilates instructor.

The first move, the Winsor “Pilates 100″ is an exercise designed to increase circulation.  In this exercise, the participant starts by breathing very slowly and then add the arms and legs gradually.  This particular exercise is all about the breathing.  As soon as you began to accomplish the Pilates 100 on a regular basis, you will began to look and feel great.

The next Winsor Pilates exercise, the Roll Up, is said to be the most challenging of all the seven basic Winsor Pilates exercises.  The participant begins by lying on a flat position on his back and then he bends his entire body in half, over his toes.  To say the least, this Pilates lengthens and strengthens the entire body.

The Single Leg Circle is performed just as it sounds, with the participant lying on his back with one leg in the air, with which he slowly makes circles. The Rolling Like a Ball technique in Windsor Pilates gives a gentle back massage while the participant is performing it.

The Single Leg Stretch is a Winsor Pilates movement that is considered a lot of fun because the participant feels like he is biking while upside down. This exercise is in contrast to the Double Leg Stretch Winsor Pilates move where the participant feels like a ballerina while flat on his back.  The last Winsor Pilates move is the Spine Stretch Forward which is performed using a gentle stretch.

With these types of Winsor Pilates exercises available, the Pilates enthusiast is spoiled for good choices on how to get and stay fit.  If you perform these seven basic Pilates exercises on a regular basis, you will look and feel better and better.

Pilates For Better Fitness and A Beautiful Body

I spoke to an old friend in Australia few days ago and was thrilled to hear that she too had just returned home from a Pilates class. I couldn’t explained why but it made so excited to hear that more people are recognizing that Pilates is a wonderful form of exercise and fitness activity.

As we all know, Pilates is a popular fitness activity among the celebrities and the stars in Hollywood. It is inspiring to know that many celebrities like Cindy Crawford, Jessica Simpson and even the Domestic Goddess, Nigella Lawson work hard to gain that Pilates body despite their busy filming schedules. There is really no excuse to give your body a good workout at least once or twice a week. It’s not hard to convince any Pilates enthusiast what the exercise can do for them. It strengthens, tones and builds muscles and helps to align your posture on the overall.

Most of the celebrities have themselves a personal Pilates trainer or instructor to guide them in their workouts in proper Pilates studios. For a start, a private Pilates session can help you gain a clearer and better understanding of the workout. If your budget does not allow you to engage a personal Pilates trainer, a group class works too, but make sure it’s a class of not more than six. Once the class gets bigger, it’s hard to get the movements correct without close supervision. It’s hard for the instructor to guide each person individually in a group class.

I have attended group reformer (with Pilates machine) and group mat and each class is normally between 2-6 students, nothing more. I also work out on a duet session with another Pilates enthusiast on a separate day. Over the months, I have gained much understanding on Pilates but most of all, my arms and abs are stronger and my legs are toned. And my breathing has improved tremendously! Though it wasn’t for a Pilates body that led me to Pilates but I have gained more than just a more attractive physique. Do you know Pilates can also help kids in their mental and physical developments too?

If you want a better understanding of what Pilates exercise is all about before signing up for a class, there are heaps of Pilates videos, DVDs on the web or books to provide the information. It’s not too late to work on those flabby arms and abs for your summer vacation – you just need to work harder :)

Pilates Fitness on a Pilates Reformer machine

I almost can’t believe it when I learnt that more than 10 million people in America are Pilates fitness followers. I’m not sure about the figures in Asia but I’m glad to be one of them!

Since picking up Pilates fitness, I can spot a more toned legs when I’m in my shorts – I don’t wear minis :) What I can’t seem to fathom is that I always feel like my body is crashing after an one hour Pilates fitness workout every week. It’s not a bad feeling cos you do feel like something in your body is seriously working. I can almost understand why there is a long list of celebrities who are Pilates fitness and one of them with nice a Pilates body is Gwyneth Paltrow, who also owns a Pilates reformer.

I enjoy exercising on the Pilates reformer machine week after week. The Pilates reformer machine, is a great piece of exercise equipment and an essential when it comes to true Pilates fitness training. With the help of a certified Pilates instructor, Pilates students are guided by close instruction, pulling on ropes and springs that work to resist one’s body weight. Personally, I believe that the benefits of exercising with the Pilates reformer are optimum when the training is done on a one-on-one or duet basis. That way, the instructor will be able to provide you a close guidance, making sure that you are engaging on the right breathing and Pilates fitness techniques.

If you are unable to start Pilates fitness on a reformer machine, most gyms offer a series of mat Pilates classes where strength-building exercises and stretches are carried out on a Pilates mat and other Pilates equipment including the stability ball and resistance bands.
